Main Treated Disease Name:Sore Throat and Swelling
Song Formula
For a sore and swollen throat with discomfort in qi flow, dry cough, hoarseness, and difficulty in speaking, one should prick the acupoints of Yemen, Yuji, Guanchong, and Shaoshang. Letting out blood from Guanchong and Shaoshang can lead to recovery.
Introduction of Acupoints
Yemen: Located in the depression between the metacarpal bones of the little finger and the ring finger of the hand. It can be located by making a fist.
Yuji: Located in the depression on the inner side of the white flesh area behind the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb of the hand.

Guanchong: Located on the outer side of the ring finger of the hand, at a distance from the corner of the fingernail as wide as a chive leaf.
Shaoshang: Located on the inner side of the thumb of the hand, at a distance from the corner of the fingernail as wide as a chive leaf.
Analysis of Etiology and Pathology
[Analysis 1]: According to the annotation in the Golden Mirror: When there is wind-heat in the chest and diaphragm, the throat will be sore and swollen. If the pathogenic factors of wind-heat are severe, single or double tonsillitis will occur. It gets its name because there are high and swollen areas resembling tonsils on both sides of the epiglottis. When the heat is extremely intense, the throat will be swollen and blocked, making it impossible to swallow soup or water, difficult to speak, and blocked in breathing. This is called throat blockage. If the extreme heat is accompanied by excessive phlegm, the phlegm will surround the throat, affecting the throat, causing internal and external swelling and blockage, and making it impossible to swallow soup or water. This is called encircling throat wind, and both are critical diseases. Sometimes, pricking to let out pus and blood can lead to recovery. If after ulceration, no pus and blood are discharged and the swelling and blockage still persist and soup or water cannot be swallowed, it will lead to death.
