Analysis of Etiology and Pathology
[Analysis 1]: According to the Golden Mirror: Acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis is a serious condition. It is caused by the upward attack of accumulated pathogenic factors such as parasitic accumulation, rashes, and the residual toxins of pox. The tooth roots rot and stink, and then turn black rapidly. If the tough tissues are difficult to remove and the patient doesn’t eat, it is a dangerous sign. Note: This condition is mostly caused by the upward attack of the accumulated fire from parasitic diseases, rashes, and the residual toxins of pox. It progresses very quickly and is generally caused by accumulated heat and toxic fire. The tooth roots rot, turn black and putrid, and the smell is extremely unpleasant. If it is caused by the attack of the toxic fire from parasitic accumulation on the teeth, at the beginning, it is advisable to take Aloe Vera Decoction for Eliminating Infantile Malnutrition and Gingivitis. For those with deficiency of the spleen and stomach, they should also take Ginseng and Poria Porridge. If it is caused by the residual toxins of rashes and pox, it is advisable to take Decoction for Clearing Infantile Malnutrition and Detoxification. For those with mild external symptoms, all should use Urine Sediment Powder to rub on the affected area. If the affected area is hard, purple, and gradually rots through the cheek and the teeth are loose, it is advisable to use Aloe Vera Powder to rub on it. If there is still some black and putrid tissue left in the interdental spaces and there are deep rotten pits that cannot be reached easily, it is advisable to stuff it with Le Ma Ting Hui Silk. Then, use manipulation to remove the black and putrid tissue. It is a good sign if the red flesh is exposed and fresh blood flows out. If the tough tissue is difficult to remove during the process, and the hard and rotten part gradually spreads, leading to the perforation of the cheek and the rupture of the lip, it is advisable to apply Qinglian Ointment. If the patient has a fever and doesn’t eat, it is an adverse sign. However, for this condition, only those cases caused by the attack of parasitic accumulation on the teeth and resulting in gingivitis are likely to recur after recovery, because the accumulated fire attacks upward from time to time. The key is to adjust the diet properly. Foods such as Chinese yam, chestnuts, geese, crabs, sweet and spicy foods should all be avoided. If there is the slightest negligence, it will definitely recur. Be very careful!

Sun Peirong’s Clinical Experience
[Experience 1]: Prick the affected area with a triangular needle to let out the toxic blood, and the patient will be cured.
Medical Cases
[Case 1]: Mr. Yang is from Guangdong Province and lives in Lane 31, Section 3, Xinyi Road, Taipei City. His wife suffered from acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis. At first, the toothache was unbearable. Then, the tooth roots turned black. From the right front tooth to the back molar, all the gum tissues turned black. Gradually, there were cracks and the bones started to detach, and the gum tissues separated from the teeth. At 12 o’clock at night on November 24, 1965 (the fifty-fourth year of the Republic of China), she came to seek treatment. Immediately, the affected area was pricked with a triangular needle, and the toxic blood flowed out. At that time, the pain was greatly reduced. Gradually, the black color of the gum tissues turned red. The next day, acupuncture was performed once again, and she was cured.
