Physiological Analysis
Ancient People’s Treatment Experience
Xi Hong’s Ode: When there is the chirping of cicadas in the ear and the waist feels as if it is about to break, there is clearly the Zusanli acupoint below the knee. If one can perform reinforcing and reducing manipulations at Diwuhui, don’t casually tell others about it.
Sun Peirong’s Clinical Experience
[Experience 1]: Regarding the condition of tinnitus, there are two types: deficiency and excess. If the cicada-like noise in the ear doesn’t stop and it becomes more intense when pressed with the hand, it belongs to the excess type, which is the upward reverse flow of the fire of the liver and gallbladder. If it rings sometimes and stops sometimes, and it stops ringing or the ringing reduces when pressed with the hand, it belongs to the deficiency type. This is due to the insufficiency of the yin of the liver and kidney.
Medical Cases
[Case 1]: Mr. Qin, 50 years old, from Rizhao County, Shandong Province, lived in Lane 203, Bo’ai Road, Taipei City. He had suffered from tinnitus like the chirping of cicadas in the ear for three years. Sometimes the tinnitus was very uncomfortable, and sometimes it was mild. On December 20, 1966 (the 55th year of the Republic of China), he came to me for diagnosis and treatment.
