Introduction of Acupoints
Two Taiyang acupoints:
On the purple veins in the depression behind the eyebrow.
Two Shuai-gu acupoints: One cun and five fen inside the hairline above the ear.
Touwei: Inside the hairline at the corner of the forehead, four cun and five fen beside Shenting acupoint.


Qiuxu: In the slightly forward depression below the lateral malleolus of the foot, within the bone seam.

Analysis of Etiology and Pathogenesis
[Analysis 1]: The causes of migraine include heredity, neurasthenia, excessive sexual activity, abnormal menstruation, anemia, chlorosis, irritability of the internal organs, sorrow, anger, malaria, wind-cold-dampness obstruction, constipation, tonsil diseases, etc. Most of the patients are women. There are prodromal symptoms such as discomfort, dizziness, tinnitus, flashing blurred vision, nausea, yawning and stretching. There is unilateral headache, hyperesthesia to sound and light, nausea and vomiting, pupil constriction, flushing of the affected side of the head, temperature rise or arterial distension. There are also cases of pupil dilation, paleness of the affected side of the head, and the temporal artery bulging in a hard cord-like shape. The disease is difficult to completely cure, but there are some cases that recover when the patient reaches an advanced age or when menstruation stops.

[Case 1]: Mr. Yu, 58 years old, from Jiangsu Province, lived in Taipei City. He often suffered from migraines, resulting in swollen eyelids, dark eye sockets, and inability to sleep at night. On January 2, 1966, he came to me for diagnosis and treatment. I needled Touwei, Qiuxu, and Taiyang penetrating to Shuai-gu. After two treatments successively, he was cured.
[Case 2]: Mr. Ma, 74 years old, from Anhui Province, lived on Aiguo East Road, Taipei City. He suffered from a migraine and couldn’t sleep peacefully for three days and nights. On October 31, 1967, he asked me to diagnose and treat him. After needling Taiyang penetrating to Shuai-gu, he recovered immediately.
